Google has announced it will update its third-party Ads manager policy in November 2024 which will announce new penalties for third parties that enable significant or sustained policy violations. These new penalties, once again, highlight the need for a Google Ads manager who stays up-to-date on policies, follow them, and routinely check in on your ads’ performance.
New policy for your Google Ads Manager
So, what is this new policy? It sounds like it’s only a change to the consequences but they are much harsher penalties. From Google:
“Activity by a third-party partner that demonstrates a disregard for compliance with Google Ads policies may result in a loss of privileges, removal from Google third-party programs, such as Google Partners, and account suspension.
We take violations of this policy very seriously and consider them egregious. If we find violations of this policy, we will suspend your Google Ads accounts upon detection and without prior warning, and you will not be allowed to advertise with us again.”
Suspended immediately, without warning, and permanently banned. Ouch.
If you’re thinking, “Oh, well I could just call or email them, tell them it was an honest mistake, and get it turned back on.” Well, go ahead and search the term Google Ads support and see what results turn up. Spoiler alert: It ain’t pretty. Dealing with their customer support can be a nightmare for even the most seasoned Google Ads manager.
What does this mean for you?
Yes, this policy in particular only mentions businesses acting as a third-party Google Ads Manager. Essentially, someone like us who manages your Google Ads account on your behalf. However, that’s not to say if you manage your own account there aren’t consequences. In fact, there are many advertising policies in which you can get yourself suspended and/or banned.
If you rely on the Google Ads platform to bring you sales, risking non-compliance should not be an option for you. You need to be sure that you or your Google Ads Manager is following the rules laid out in these policies.
Why hiring a Google Ads Manager is a good idea
Did you hear about this policy update before us? If you answered no, that’s no reason to get down on yourself. Not only do we subscribe to newsletters to keep us on top of things – we’re also marketing oddballs. We pride ourself on knowing these things and kind of enjoy furthering our knowledge on the topic.
Further, we know how to get the most bang for your advertising buck. Not only have we been advertising on Google for a long time, but we operate all over within the Google “world.” We perform SEO and we manage clients’ Google Business Profiles. Considering Google’s algorithm and guidelines is second nature.
Finally, if you’re a client of ours, we routinely check in on your campaign and make sure it’s spending wisely and converting well. If not, we make changes. Do you have the time to do this? Maybe. But is it a wise use of your time considering everything else you have to do for your business? Probably not.
You can rest easy knowing that your ads are compliant and optimized for success when you hire 2oddballs Creative as your Google Ads Manager. We’ll talk about your brand, what your goals are, and, if applicable, how your Google Ads are performing currently. Our first meeting isn’t about the sale. It’ll be about whether or not we are a good fit and if we think we can help.
Odd, we know. But that’s how we like to do things!
